QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The first is carved as a praying mantis resting on top of a bitter gourd borne on leafy stems; the softly polished stone has a pale celadon tone with areas of russet inclusion. The second is carved as a crouching lion with its young tucking at its ear, and a brocade ball between its head and bushy tail; the softly polished stone has a celadon tone with some white flecks.
