The celebrated Nautilus model was launched in 1972 and its first model was reference 3700/1 offered in stainless steel with an anthracite ribbed dial. The large masculine 42 mm. case was inspired by the universal shape of a porthole found on all maritime vessels. The watch became popular in the 80s and the Nautilus has today established itself as an iconic sports watch.

This watch, fresh to the market, is offered here at Christie's in overall excellent condition.

Reference 5712 was released in October 2006 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the celebrated Nautilus collection and to replace Reference 3712 in production from 2005 to 2006.
