De forme circulaire, il est recouvert d'une belle glaçure céladon. Le centre est orné d'un dragon pourchassant la perle sacrée en léger relief. L'aile est incisée de volutes et le revers rehaussé de pétales moulés.

A dish of this type with a very similar dragon applied to the centre is illustrated in R. Krahl, Chinese Ceramics in the Topkapi Saray Museum, Istanbul, vol. I, cat. no. 62. Another almost identical dragon chasing a 'flaming pearl' from the British Museum is illustrated in 'Oriental Ceramics: The World's Great Collections', vol. 5, Catalogue, fig. 132.
