"I AM HORRIFIED TO FIND YOU HAVE NOT GOT YOUR BOOK YET. I SEND IT HEREWITH DULY INSCRIBED," Churchill writes to the nurse who looked after him during a bout of phlebitis, one of many setbacks he had in the long year of recovery and recuperation following his disastrous encounter with a New York City taxicab in December 1931. "I am getting on splendidly and hope to make a speech in the House next week," Churchill reports. "The blood count yesterday was haemaglobin 90 corpuscles 5,200,000 and colour .86. So you see we are practically normal. But I am by no means as storng as I was, nor got my full strength back yet." Together 5 items. (5)
