Oblong 4o (210 x 252mm). 47 engraved plates (2 folding). (Light spotting.) Contemporary mottled calf (worn with loss at extremities).
FIRST EDITION. For these designs, Halfpenny "drew upon his experience of moderate-sized houses in Ireland by architects like Edward Lovett Pearce and Richard Cassels" (Harris). The final plate, which depicts Westminster Bridge and is unrelated to the rest of the work, was possibly included in response to the controversies over the bridge at that time.
