Frontispieces and plates, EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED by the addition of approximately 500 portraits, views, and plates, some mounted or window-mounted, a few folding, double-page, or hand-colored. 20th-century blue crushed levant morocco Cosway-style binding by Bayntun (Riviere), upper covers gilt with inlaid miniature portraits or scenes depicting Marie Louise, Egypt, Josephine, Napoleon wounded at Ratisbon, the Italian campaign, Friedland, Moscou, and Waterloo surrounded by inlaid pearls, lower covers gilt with central arms of Napoleon, spines in 6 compartments with 5 raised bands gilt-lettered in 2, the rest gilt with red morocco onlays, turn-ins gilt, watered silk doublures and endpapers, edges gilt; cloth slipcases.
