AN AMAZING VERTICAL OF HEITZ
Tom and Martha May have owned their eponymous Napa Valley vineyard since 1963; since 1966 Heitz Cellar has made a single-vineyard cabernet from these 34 acres just south of Oakville near the Mayacamas foothills. The vines themselves are ringed with large eucalyptus trees, the latter often taking credit (or blame, depending on who you talk to) for a distinctive minty aroma and flavor of the wines.
Note: there was no Martha's Vineyard cabernet produced in 1971
