A FINE CASED PAIR OF 54-BORE PERCUSSION OVERCOAT PISTOLS
SIGNED THOMAS HORSLEY, YORK, MID-19TH CENTURY
With case-hardened octagonal sighted barrels each signed on the top-flat, case-hardened breaches and actions, the latter each incorporating a rear sight and engraved with scrollwork, finely chequered figured walnut butts, white metal escutcheons, blued trigger guards and belt-hooks, the former each border and scroll engraved and blued under-ribs each with stirrup ramrod engraved with a rosette on the tip, retaining nearly all their original finish throughout, in original brass-bound mahogany case, lined with burgundy baize and with some accessories including fluted pistol-flask, Dixon oil bottle, and iron pincer-type ball mould, the lid (relined) with Horsley trade label with Coney Street address, the exterior with shaped brass escutcheon with flush-fitting carrying-handle
