With reblacked nitro chopperlump barrels each signed in full, engraved 'PATENT EJECTOR' and respectively numbered '1' and '2' in gold on the rib, and engraved 'SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH' and 'FLUID PRESSED STEEL' on the tubes, 2 1/2in. (65mm) chambers, each bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, foliate and scroll engraved actions each with carved fences and removable disc-strikers, reblued engraved toplevers each respectively numbered '1' and '2' in gold, automatic safeties each with gold-inlaid 'SAFE', 14 1/2in. (37cm.) figured replacement stocks each including 3/4in. rubber butt-pad, silver escutcheons each engraved with the initials 'TA', and reblued engraved trigger-guards, in modern canvas and leather triple motor case with canvas outer

Lot Essay

The makers have kindly confirmed that these guns were completed on 12 August 1912 for Gerald Garnett Esq., and resold by them in 1937 to an F.C. Ward of Harrogate
