With reblued nitro chopperlump barrels each signed in full on the left tube, engraved 'MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL' on the right tube, and respectivelt numbered '1' and '2' on the matt rib with traces of secondary retailers details (obscured), 2 1/2in. chambers, each bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, bouquet and scroll engraved actions each retaining some original faded case-hardened finish, signed 'PURDEY'S PATENT' on the underside, and with blued removable striker-discs, blued toplevers each engraved en suite and respectively numbered '1' and '2', automatic safeties each with gold-inlaid 'SAFE', bouquet and scroll engraved locks each signed 'J. PURDEY & SONS', with cocking-indicator engraved with an arrow, and retaining much original case-hardened finish, 14 1/4in. (36cm.) well figured straight-hand stocks (older replacements) each with butt-plate, and border and scroll engraved trigger-guards each retaining some original blued finish, in a brass-cornered oak and leather case relined in green baize, with some accessories, the lid initialled 'J.R.B.C.'

The makers have kindly confirmed that these guns were completed in June 1902 with pistolgrip stocks for a Major Rogers and the No.1 gun was rebarrelled by them in October 1904
