With reblacked nitro chopperlump barrels each signed in full, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 (#26120) and cyl. and imp. cyl. (#26668) choke, bright bouquet and scroll engraved actions each with removable disc-strikers and signed 'J. PURDEY & SONS LONDON ENGLAND', bright signed bouquet and scroll engraved locks each with cocking indicator, 15in. (38cm.) figured stocks each with chequered butt (#26120 with 7/8in. figured wood extension, fore-end wood replaced, both cracked at head), and bouquet and scroll engraved trigger-guards(#26120 replaced), in a brass-cornered oak and leather double case lined in burgundy baize, and some accessories including Purdey snap-caps and oil bottle, the lid with black leather Purdey trade label with gilt lettering

The makers have kindly confirmed that gun no. 26120 was completed in 1949 and gun no. 26668 in 1961
