With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 2006 and its subsequent sale on November 23rd of the same year. Further accompanied by a Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated November 23rd, 2006, Patek Philippe Attestation dated the same day, confirming the watch was specially created in 2006 to mark the inauguration of the Salons Patek Philippe in Geneva and is part of a limited series of 100 pieces in platinum. The Attestation further explains that the tools and dies used to make the limited series have been destroyed, thus ensuring that the reference 5105 in platinum will never be produced again. Furthermore delivered with a medal with the inscription Inauguration des Nouveaux Salons, Patek Philippe, Geneve, 1939-1892-2006, Patek Philippe original presentation box, product literature, leather folder, and outer packaging.

Patek Philippe produced the reference 5105 in a limited series of 100 examples in platinum, along with the reference 5565 with two tone-silvered dial in 300 examples in stainless steel, to celebrate the inauguration of its new Salons in Geneva at Rue du Rhône 41 in 2006.

When Patek Philippe moved from it's historic headquarters in the center of Geneva to it's new headquarter in 1996, one hundred caliber 9'''90 movements were found stashed away in an old wooden chest on the sixth floor. These movements, originating from 1959, are now featured inside the reference 5105, making the model a rare treasure.

The dates on the commemorative medal are key dates in the history of Patek Philippe:

1839: founding of the watchmaking company Patek, Czapek & Cie at Quai des Bergues 29, Geneva
1892: following the move to Rue du Rhône in 1853, renovation and modernizing of the building under the direction of the celebrated architect Jacques-Elisée Goss
2006: restoration of the historical premises and inauguration of the newly renovated Salons Patek Philippe at Rue du Rhône 41.
