With red leather top above four mahogany-lined drawers faced as five drawers, flanked by scrolling rosettes, formerly with a gallery to the rear, possibly with a fully veneered top originally, the castors stamped COPE & COLLINSON PATENT, the central drawer with partly erased label 'Manufacturers/ To Her Majesty / T & G SEDDON / No..../ GRAY'S INN ROAD/ London'

Lot Essay

Thomas Seddon II and George Seddon III took over their family's highly successful cabinet-making business in 1817 and were awarded a Royal Warrant in 1832 after extensive re-furnishing work at Windsor Castle. This label dates from 1832 onwards.
