Lot Essay

The monogram BF is possibly that of Beatrice Foster, sister of Dorothy Foster Stewart.
A nearly identical teapot stand by Revere, dated 1787, is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (illus. Kathryn C. Buhler, American Silver, 1972, no. 381, p. 430-431).

This previously unrecorded teapot stand is one of only fourteen known examples by Revere.
