Lot Essay

The sailing schooner Warner Moore made news when she was transporting 330,000 feet of yellow pine from Fernandina, Florida to Providence, Rhode Island, as she had done many times over a ten year period, when she had a harrowing trip north along the coast. Her captain Frank Crockett, avoided ruin in March of 1911 when the winds changed off Point Judith, Rhode Island, as reported in a Rhode Island Newpaper The Day, on March 21, 1911. The Warner Moore ultimately ran around under a similarly heavy load of cargo along the coast of North Carolina in 1915.
