Views include cities and towns of Japan, portraits, occupational scenes and Japanese soldiers.
A rare collection with a large number of previously unpublished images. It would seem that these proofs were produced in order that a selection could be made for publication either in book or stereographic form. Many of the images look like duplicates but are variants showing Ponting's approach to particular subjects.
