A welcome guest to Rossi family in Rome, the restless artist made the most of the multiple studio locations. The plates were worked on not only in Rome but also in New York, which required frequent shipping between locations. This time-consuming and complicated approach is evident in the complexity and scale of each piece: Stuck, the flies buzzed was initiated in New York and completed in Rome, having crossed the Atlantic four times before completion. Each journey meant that new elements, in terms of colour and composition, were considered, explored and realised.
