Lot Essay

How volume II, section VI goes into some discussion of the dating of these spoons Ps. 209/215 and Kent reconsiders this on Ps. 19/20 of his West Country book. Kent dates these between circa 1620/1660. Although the gilding on this spoon is considered by some to belater, it is interesting to note that How on P.210 states that the majority of this group were originally gilt.
