Lot Essay

A similar fragmentary panel of the Trinity is in the Victoria and Albert Museum, number: A.117-1946.
Nottingham was the centre of an industry carving locally mined alabaster. Altarpieces were made in some quantity for British churches and were also exported to the Continent.
