Descriptif du lot

Born in 1829, Antonio Tantardini (d.1879) studied under Bartolini. He sculpted a number of important monuments such as one of Cavour in Milan and of Independence in Vienna (1871). Tantardini first exhibited his Bathing Woman at the 1862 International Exhibition. Entitled La Bagnanti, it is referred to in The Art Journal, Illustrated International Catalogue as belonging to the School of the Romantics, and is illustrated p. 324.
