A PAIR OF FRENCH ORMOLU TEN-LIGHT CANDELABRA
OF LOUIS XV STYLE, LATE 19TH/ EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Each in the form of a palm tree with naturalistic branches issuing from the leafy canopy, the ten nozzles in the form of pineapples, the trunk entwined by a serpent eating fruit on a tripart base, inscribed 'VZ' three times to the underside of the base

Lot Essay

An apparently identical pair was sold in The Roger Collection at Sotheby's London, 26-30 January 1998, lot 82. A similar example with monkeys to the base was sold at Christie's King Street, 1 October 1998, lot 270.
