Lot Essay

The owner of lots 1417-1419 writes about his relationship with C.C. Wang, "My relationship with Mr. Wang and his daughter Yien Koo began from an introduction by Ray Chen (astrophysicist) of Ton Yong & Co. (Rare Chinese Art) in the Manhattan Art & Antique Center in 1996 when I spotted Mr. Wang on the cover of connoisseur magazine, November, 1988 in Mr. Chen's shop. I read the article and was inspired to telephone Mr. Wang immediately as I had just launched my own painting & sculpting career (self-taught) at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art (PAFA) in Philadelphia. Mr. Wang proved to be very approachable as well as amicable to me, and he and his daughter (also an artist) acted as my mentors and friends during the period of 1996-2003."
