Château Mouton-Rothschild 1955
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Corks appear slightly shrunken, one damaged. Corroded and slightly damaged capsules. Bin-soiled and dirty labels. Levels: three upper, two mid and one mid/low-shoulder
Ex Sotheby's London sale 1/12/97
Tasting note: Two notes within four months, first a hugely impressive imperiale, with concentration of length but still very tannic. Spectacular, probably at its best in the 1980s. Most recently: medium-deep, richly coloured; sweet, fully evolved bouquet; rich, yet a touch of leanness, very spicy flavour, dry finish. Last tasted Nov 2003 ***** M.B.
