RELATED TO THE UNDERWORLD PAINTER, CIRCA 330-320 B.C.
Interior with seated youth holding thyros and phiale, being crowned with a wreath by a satyr, an alabastron and goat at his feet, a female figure standing in front, leaning against a pedestal basin, torch in right hand, fillet in the field, ovolo band below, the tondo with bands of wave and berried tendrils, the rim with four knops, each handle with central knop. The exterior with seated winged Eros, holding a cista, hanging fillet above, the reverse with draped seated female figure, holding cista in right hand, mirror in left, elaborate palmettes between the two figures, details in added red and white
14 ¾ in. (37.5 cm.) diam.
