AN IRON-RED-GROUND BLUE AND WHITE VASE, MEIPING
LATE MING DYNASTY, 16TH CENTURY
The vase is decorated with two scholars wearing long robes within a garden, one accompanied by a boy attendant, between a wide band of leafy lotus blooms within shaped borders on the shoulder, and a lotus-lappet band at the base. All are decorated in underglaze blue on an iron-red ground.
