A FINELY CARVED ZITAN WAISTED CORNER-LEG TABLE
19TH CENTURY
The wide rectangular frame is carved around the exterior with a key-fret border, above a narrow waist carved with stylized bats amidst scrolling clouds within ruyi-shaped borders above a band of lotus lappets. The shaped aprons are elaborately carved with archaistic scroll. The whole is supported on legs of square section carved with writhing chilong, framed by spandrels carved in openwork with stylized chilong, and terminating in upturned ruyi-form feet.
