A PALE GREENISH-GREY JADE RECTANGULAR PLAQUE
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The semi-translucent plaque has rounded corners and an oblong aperture in the center which is encircled on one side by two chilong biting each other's bifurcated tail, and on the reverse by four intertwined foliate scrolls, all within raised borders. Together with a pale greenish-white jade two-part hinged belt fastener, Ming dynasty, carved in high relief on one half with a dragon and on the other with a phoenix grasping a peony in its beak. The hinge is carved on top with an open box.
