The Ente Nazionale per l'Artigianato e le Piccole Industrie was founded in Rome in 1925. This governmental institution promoted small industries and artisans across Italy by organizing exhibitions and group participations in important international trade fairs. Simultaneously, E.N.A.P.I. also acted as an agent, offering the possibility for member artists to have their models executed in various materials (glass, ceramic, wood or metal) by member producers. The original design remained intellectual property of E.N.A.P.I. who distributed these very limited productions through their permanent showrooms in Rome and Florence.
