SAFAVID ISFAHAN, CIRCA 1700
Pen and ink on paper, two young ladies, one kneeling, the other standing behind her with her arms outstretched try on various articles of jewellery, all studded with rubies and emeralds, sprays of flowers at their feet and the rays of the sun above, a probably added inscription to the right of the composition signed Muhammad Vali and dated 1012, laid down between gold and polychrome rules and wide cream margins on card, areas of spot staining
Painting 6 3/8 x 4 5/8in. (16 x 11.7cm.); folio 10¼ x 7¾in. (26.2 x 19.9cm.)
