Comprising a ghazal of Amir Shahi of Sabzevar, Persian manuscript on paper, with 10ll. of elegant black nasta'liq divided into two columns with double gold intercolumnar rule, the folio decorated with two panels with small birds painted on a ground of floral sprays, the text panels laid down between wide polychrome borders, mounted, framed and glazed

Lot Essay

The colourful illustrations of birds that adorn these pages are very similar to those found on an album attributed to Muhammad Mu'min. That example had a library inscription dated AH 1031/1621-22 AD, which sold in these Rooms, 12 October 2004, lot 112.
