A MUGHAL GEM-SET JADE HUQQA MOUTHPIECE
INDIA, 17TH CENTURY, LATER MOUNTED BY BOUCHERON, 20TH CENTURY
Of typical form with cylindrical shaft waisted before angled top, the thumb-rest carved as a single leaf, the base of both the shaft and top elegantly decorated with a series of gold cusps each issuing a trefoil palmette inset with emeralds and rubies, the top of the shaft with similar cusps issuing single leaves, later mounted by Boucheron into a paper-knife with gold blade, with leather sheath
Mouthpiece 2¾in. (7cm.) long; 6 7/8in. (17.4cm.) with blade
