AN ENAMELLED GOLD BOX
JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN, INDIA, 19TH CENTURY
Of octagonal form with pronounced top and bottom edge and hinged lid with push latch, the top decorated with a central floral medallion surrounded by palmettes containing floral sprays followed by animal combat scenes on a green ground with scrolling flowers, set inside a border of floral medallions, the sides with scenes of elephant combat, horsemen and rutting deer set within palace grounds, further floral decoration around, with geometric and chevroned borders above and below, plain gold interior and base, one minor area of loss to enamel otherwise in very good condition
1½ x 4¾ x 3 5/8in. (3.7 x 12 x 9.2cm.)
