POONA, CENTRAL INDIA, CIRCA 1900
Of circular form with rounded rim, the surface cast and with engraved details such as folds in the textiles, facial features and texture to the landscapes, the base with scenes of the Ramayana and local religious figures surrounded by gilded rectangular borders, the cavetto with further scenes from the Ramayana set in cusped cartouches on a ground of gilded floral vine, the rim with bands of serrated leaves, each of the scenes with identifying captions in devanagri script
