Ink and gold on burnished paper, with 3ll. of elegant black diwani script, a monogram and a signature line in gold diwani on a ground of gold dots, the large gold tughra of Ottoman Sultan Abdulaziz at the top, the reverse two further stylised monograms and a short line of naskh, a vertical and three horizontal creases from folding

Lot Essay

This firman awards the Mecidiye Order of the second class to the outgoing Charge d'Affaires of the Greek Embassy in Istanbul, a Monsieur 'Isa. It is dated the middle of Jumadi al-Awwal 1281 / October 1864.
