Engraved map, hand-colored in outline, image 380 x 525 mm (496 x 595 mm). Latin text on verso. (Some light staining and offsetting.)
"Cartographically the map draws on the extremely rare chart by Hessel Gerritsz, ca 1631" (Burden). The present example appeared in the first Latin edition of Blaeu's America, quae est Geographiae Blauianae pars quinta liberunus volumen undecimum, the eleventh volume of his great Atlas Major. This is the finest delineation of the Caribbean. Burden 242.
