Woodcut world map, truncated cordiform projection, image 188 x 275 mm (240 x 324 mm sheet). Within woodcut border of clouds, windheads, two larger figures at upper margin, one with the Holy Roman Emperor's double eagle on his breastplate, verso blank. (Minor marginal staining.)
"The second woodblock cut for the world map in Apian Cosmographia is very similar to the first one" (Shirley) described in the previous lot. The word "Europe" is now horizontal, and the words "Angl" and "Scot" appear next to the island of Britain. This copy with text in Latin and Dutch. Shirley 96.
