THE PENBOX MARKED 'O.M BHUJ' FOR OOMERSI MAWJI, KUTCH, NORTHWEST INDIA, CIRCA 1880
The pen box of rectangular form with rounded ends, the lid's decoration with dense intricate floriated scrolls surrounding a central plain oval medallion engraved 'H. B' in cursive script, the borders with a garland of split palmettes, marked 'OM BHUJ' on the lip, the body of silvered base metal; the spherical box and tray on plain base with similar profuse foliated decoration, the lid with bulbous knop, the tray with central lotus bloom
The pen box 7.5/8in. (19.5cm.) long, the bowl 5.1/4in. (13.5cm.) diam, the tray 5.3/4in. (14.5cm.) diam.
