A FINE PAIR OF OTTOMAN 22-BORE FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOLS WITH SILVER-GILT MOUNTS

With three-stage tapering barrels each with gold-inlaid flowering foliage and a panel bearing the owner's signature 'Sahib Khurshid Bek' in Arabic script, iron tangs and locks each decorated with further gold-inlaid foliage, the former each with raised rear-sight, the latter each with flat bevelled plate, stepped tail, raised pan and roller, well figured Circassian walnut full stocks (one with old crack to the butt) each profusely decorated with applied silver tendrils, flower-heads and foliage surrounded with inlaid silver wire scrollwork (minor loss), the underside of each pistol with an applied silver crescent moon bearing the maker's signature 'Amala Al-Hajj 'Ali' in Arabic script beneath a star, cast and chased mounts including spurred pommels decorated with trophies of arms, pierced foliate side-plates, crowned vacant escutcheons, and false ramrods
