Grand Duke Michael (1832-1909) was the fourth son and seventh child of Emperor Nicholas I (1796-1855). His wife, Princess Cecily of Baden (1839-1891), took the name Grand Duchess Olga Feodorovna and the couple bore seven children, who spent most of their lives in Tbilisi, Georgia where the Grand Duke was appointed Governor General from 1862-1882. One of their sons was Grand Duke Alexander Mikhailovich, the husband of Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna.
