John Buonarotti Papworth (1175-1847) produced a number of designs for the interiors of Little Grove, East Barnet, Hertfordshire for Frederick Cass in 1829. A drawing for the scheme in the dining room shows a wine cooler of sarcophagus form with a panelled front and scrolled side handles similar to the example offered here (see J. Lever, Architects' Designs for Furniture, London, 1982, p. 65, fig. 29).
