TWO CARNELIAN AGATE CARVINGS
18TH CENTURY
The first carving is of a Luohan holding a flywhisk and a censer with a dragon amongst cloud scrolls appearing from inside. The bearded figure is standing beside rocks. The second piece is in the form of a lotus flower with various bats and insects perched on the mouth rim. Each piece cleverly carved using the attractive contrast of the white and orangey-red inclusions of the stone.
The tallest, 7 ¾ in. (19.6 cm.) high
