A WHITE JADE RECTANGULAR PLAQUE
18TH/19TH CENTURY
The plaque is carved in low relief to one side with a standing official dressed in long flowing robes, holding a ruyi sceptre. The reverse bears a calligraphic inscription, all surrounded by an archaistic dragon border. The stone is of an even pale tone.

Lot Essay

The inscription describes the scholarly pleasures of reading and poetry writing, and is read as 'nian bo zi xiang du zhou yi, di he hua lu xie huang ting'.
