A FAMILLE ROSE BLUE-GROUND 'MEDALLION' BOWL
DAOGUANG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE-BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850)
The bowl is potted with deep rounded sides, with a short foot rising to a flared rim. The exterior is finely enamelled with four panels enclosing chrysanthemum flowers, interspersed with stylised floral sprays reserved on a sgraffiato pale-blue ground. The interior is painted in cobalt blue to depict a central medallion containing flowering branches of peony and chrysanthemum, surrounded by four groups of chrysanthemum sprays.
