Lot Essay

The phrase 'fo ri chang ming' may be translated as 'may the light of Buddhism always shine'.
Compare the present lot to a smaller but very similarly decorated Daoguang bowl in the Simon Kwan Collection, which was exhibited in Imperial porcelain of Late Qing from the Kwan Collection, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1983, p. 65, catalogue no. 39.
