A LARGE ARCHAISTIC CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL TRIPOD CENSER AND COVER
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The globular body of the censer is finely decorated with a band of archaistic kui-dragons interspersed by six flanges, below a pair of upright handles depicting taotie masks and supported on three dragon-form feet. The cover is intricately decorated with further archaicistic kui-dragons, surrounding the central reticulated section shaped as four lingzhi heads, depicting wan symbols and bats in flight. The reticulated finial on the cover is surmounted by a fierce dragon amidst scrolling clouds.
