Lot Essay

A very similar pair of later-decorated ormolu-mounted seau à demi-bouteille are in the collection of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, see G. de Bellaigue, French Porcelain in the Collection of her Majesty the Queen, vol. II, London, 2009, p. 554, no. 130. The decoration also closely relates to a service made for the Prime Minister of Spain in 1796.
