Oval gilt-brass verge movement, gut fusée, Egyptian pillars, steel two-armed pre-hairspring balance wheel, decorative gilt brass cock secured by a pin, blued steel click for the ratchet wheel set-up, engraved scroll and foliage decorated gilt brass dial plate, Roman numerals on raised blank chapter silver ring, centered by the engraved view of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, single iron hand, oval case, finely scroll and foliage engraved silver band covered, gilt brass rims, oval-shaped hinged silver covers, glazed circular aperture to the front revealing the dial, gilt brass finial, swivel pendant and bow, the gilt hinges set with rose-cut diamonds, movement signed

The watchmaker Jan Janse Bockels was active in Den Hague in the first half of the 17th century. Watches made by him are in the collections of famous museums such as the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the British Museum in London.
