Lot Essay

Gloria May Josephine Swanson (1899 – 1983) was an American actress, singer and producer, she is probably best known for her role as Nora Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, 1950.
Hèlèn Martini known also as 'The empress of the night' directed the Folies Bergère for thirty seven years and collaborated closely with Erté during this time on costume designs for the celebrated music hall. She owned many works by the artist including those offered here.
