QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The cylindrical brush pot is well carved in relief of varying depths with a landscape scene depicting an aged scholar with a staff in one hand looking up at the moon partially covered by scrolling clouds. He is accompanied by attendants, leading the way along a hilly path dotted by overhanging cliffs partly shrouded by heavy mist, followed by two other aged gentlemen and an attendant beneath towering pine trees.
