A RECTANGULAR BROWN AND CELADON JADE PLAQUE
18TH/19TH CENTURY
The plaque is carved in low relief to the upper section with two confronting stylised dragons. It is decorated to one side with a bearded Immortal beneath a pine tree. The reverse is carved with the inscription 'Shanyin Daoshi Ru Xiangjian, Yingxie Huangting Huan Baie', which may be translated as 'One should offer a piece of calligraphy in exchange for the geese from the Daoist priest resided in the remote mountains', referring to the legend of the Sage of Calligraphy, Wang Xizhi. The stone is of beige and celadon tones.
